Good morning Carla and Janice: Just an FYI. These are my personal comments about what happened in yesterday’s hearing. I will try to stick to only the facts because I was livid. I can best describe yesterday’s HB68 hearing as Snatching Defeat from the jaws of Victory.
We had 10 public commenters against passing this thru, including Zac Fort and I. The public commenters were 10-5 against passing it. The 10 that spoke had to wait through 5 hours of hearings because HB68 was last. In every hearing I have heard thus far, the committees have shown deference to the Public commenters. Not this time.
Rep. Pettigrew, R – D61 Lovington, could have killed this, but he voted to pass it thru. The vote was 3-2 to “do pass.” Rep. Lord had already voted no and gave excellent commentary as to why.
The hard work, manhours, and coordination by us citizen-unpaid volunteers, Zac Fort and his group, BTNM, CCIA, was all for naught.
But we will march on, nobody said it was going to be easy, gotta work even harder.
