Wise Person Has Many Counsel

We need to get our group to move beyond the echo chambers they are in. Juan does a stupendous job of bringing in other perspectives, as last nights meeting showed, for advancing and expanding how we see things in relation to reality. We must also be doing that on our own through reading and taking courses that are so readily available for free and can be done at our convenience. So much complaining about public ed but few are willing to advance their own knowledge. Why is that?

I was amazed that so few spoke with Rory Rank last night as he is the most knowledgeable authority we have on the legal aspect of JBD and parental rights. This is the crux of getting the school board to back off on this policy. Any thought that he will be arguing this case to a school board for us in 2-5 minutes is not only not fare to him but completely a copout by us. Be informed and be cohesive in our attempt to change this direction. We must draw in parents. One person cannot be expected to do this no matter how qualified they are.

If thinking our school board is going to jump up and stand at attention when confronted by an angry mob is thinking that we are going back in time to the “Harper Valley PTA” days. That thought  brings me to the fact that the best schools in America have a strong PTA or similar. I ref the Piedmont Unified School District in CA. What do the Las Cruces Schools have in that respect?

Maybe we need assignments to complete prior to each weeks meeting. As a suggestion, at the very least, I could not recommend more Victor Davis Hansen’s Hillsdale College course “The Dying Citizen” as it covers every aspect of the declines we are attempting to push back against. It is free. Maybe just one course segment a week but one must see the whole picture so complete the whole course or better yet read his book by the same title and come prepared by a chapter a week.
