Very glad to read a positive report on the success LCPD/NMSP had in dealing with the rising crime in LC. I received a number of comments by small businesses of “additional police presence” and have seen a decline in public reports of criminal activity, which is GREAT. Thanks to LCPD for this effort.
Police saturation in high crime areas works, so why didnt this occur 6-12 months ago when the number of “forgotten victims” were piling up ? Why didnt the Council take a proactive approach to increasing the force that allows LCPD to engage in this fashion steadily ? This is something you, as local elected leaders, control.
Budget is coming up soon. You should allow LCPD to provide a good solid number of police officers that will keep this type of support consistent and allow LCPD to adequately do their jobs.
