Mr Mayor, Councilors https://conservativesinaction.org/local-elected-officials/
I read your comment from the article https://kvia.com/top-stories/2022/09/14/migrant-surge-in-el-paso-impacts-las-cruces-shelters/The mayor says officials from different cities along the border need to figure out who can take in these migrants
I respectfully disagree with your comment. It is not up to officials from different cities to resolve or prolong (put a band aid) this issue.
It is up to the Biden administration, who refuses to acknowledge the crisis at the border as well as the Governor, who smartly asked the Feds not to send illegal migrants to NM- https://www.koat.com/article/gov-michelle-lujan-grisham-asks-feds-to-not-send-migrants-to-new-mexico/40305130 and our Federal representatives (Heinrich and Lujan) who dont care and in order to not break ranks with what Vice President Harris stated “the border is secure”, they do nothing. https://cbsaustin.com/news/nation-world/vice-president-kamal-harris-under-fire-for-saying-the-border-is-secure-mark-morgan-united-states-customs-order-protection-immigration-migrants-joe-biden.
This odious denial by Administration officials continues to exacerbate the problem. Thank God there is at least one Democratic Senator who has the moral courage to call the existential crisis at our doorstep for what it is. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/543362-manchin-calls-border-situation-a-crisis/https://www.foxnews.com/media/manchin-slams-kamala-harris-dead-wrong-border-security-claim. Even when Harris received dozens of illegal migrants at her doorstep, she ignored. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/vice-president-harris-ignores-question-migrants-arriving-residence-despite-secure-border-claims
My recommendation is for you and the Council to issue a proclamation demanding the Governor and Federal officials fix this crisis or at least acknowledge. In the meantime, the Council continues to provide funds to NGOs encouraging the continuation of this problem. While NM ( Las Cruces) drowns in Fentanyl. https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/albuquerque/news/press-releases/search-warrants-target-violent-street-and-prison-gangs.
