| CHAIR CARE PROGRAM The NM DOH has funded a grant for the Chair Care program, wherein hairdressers will be paid to convince clients to get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19. Hairdressers will be trained in “motivational interviewing” techniques by Serna Solutions, in partnership with Presbyterian Community Health. The hairdressers will then use their new skills to “encourage behavioral changes that promote better health outcomes, with a primary focus on addressing vaccine hesitancy.”Hairdressers will be paid a stipend of $4,000 to participate in this program, and they are to focus on increasing vaccination in “Latinx/Hispanic, Black/African American, Native/Tribal and politically conservative populations.” |
