Modular Nuclear Energy
The governor candidate job interviews found on the Knowledge Box page were excellent. Ronchetti mentions modular nuclear reactor systems for localized electricity production of which I have been a strong proponent. These basically are similar in size as to what are found on our nuclear powered Naval Fleet.
A friend was a nuclear physicist at Sandia Labs and he explained that not one of them has ever had a threatening problem and if one were to experience a meltdown its smaller size would allow the earth beneath it to easily absorb the heat. The beauty of these systems is they avoid long distance transmission lines that experience a line loss of electricity simply due to the resistance of the wire as it travels to its distant destination.
