Referendums:
Effective June 16th, At least 6 bills became law: HB4, SB397, HB7, SB180, HB 207 and SB13. On June 28th, Larry “Lead” Marker was in a Chaves County Court to argue the SOS’ inappropriate accusations that these bills were exempt from Referendum and that the Petitions we were circulating were ILLEGAL~ Both she and the Governor have stated to the media and also published on the SOS website that the Referendums were inappropriate due to having declared they were for the preservation of the public peace, safety and health of the citizens of New Mexico. The SOS sent a representative from the AG’s office to request the Petition for Declaratory Judgment be dismissed. The judge stated that she did have the right to render an opinion as to the form of the petition, but stopped short of saying she did not have the right to declare these particular bills were, in fact, exempt because it isn’t what Lead had requested in his Petition. His Petition failed to ask that obvious question and the judge stated as much saying he could only answer the question asked. This leaves Lead Petition open for appeal to a higher court since he refused to dismiss the Petition as requested by the SOS.
Please note that the SOS and Governor are feverishly blowing smoke onto our project to deflate our hopes and take energy out of our project.
